Yeah, I think nopri has you on that one. You can change the system date through the date command too but I believe you need to use the 'clock' or 'hwclock' commands to set the physical hardware clock. Its important to note that the date formats are different for each. At least in the Red Hat distro I used at the time I did this (Red Hat 6.1)
