    Changing Permissions

When I attempt to change the owner of a directory, I get the attached error. I get a similar error when I attempt to change the group or click "Set user ID" or "Set group ID."

That stuff at the top of the image got there when Iwas cropping it.

How do I change the owner of this directory?

What user are you logged in as when you tried to change it? It is owned by root and hence you need to be logged in as root to change it's permissions.

Either that or you are not root when making those changes. From the screenshot you provided, it looks like root is the current owner, so you need to be root to make any changes.
