gkrellm gives a lot of information, both about usage and what you have. "free" from the command-line gives info about ram and swap. "uname -a" from the command-line gives info about your system and your processor. "lspci" gives the same info as "less /proc/pci" (hardware info) but then somewhat shorter. "less /proc/bus/usb" gives you info about all the devices that you've plugged in you USB ports. "dmesg" gives a lot of information about what the kernel has found and supports. There are probably many more - but I hope this is enough for you
SuSe probably has info in YaST as well.
Sam
PS: for a screenshot of only ram and cpu info in one window, just run the commands uname -a and free simultaneously in the same terminal.

you could always install gdesklets or superkaramba and use the system info/monitor thingy applets that are for them.

Open a xterm in full screen and type
cat /proc/cpuinfo /proc/meminfo
No new software needed.

Seeing that your running SuSE, try typing 'siga' as root in a shell, should give you enough info to sink a ship.
