how about a linux users gaming clan?

this thought came to me a while back, but never developed into anything. i never posted it on a big forum, so...
but im psyc-ed about Halo 2 being out (and other big name releases soon, so i thought id toss the idea around and see if anyone here wants to make this a reality.

But as a clan person I'm terrible, I only play when I can which is very limited so I don't count

    Thumbs up

I don't know much about Linux yet: I'm a rookie geek still on Win XP. I play The Sims, Myst, Alpha Centaurii, Civilization- type games, etc.. If any of those can play on Linux, I'm in.

I would be interested in joining a linux users clan, but it would just depend on which game(s) we would be playing.

umm...wrong? There are 2-3 TA clanners that are playing UT2k4 right now. As for doom3 I'm not sure since I'm not a big fan of it at the moment. But there are no reasons why we TA can't spread to other games as well.

Generally the easiest way to get gaming is to use a game that everybody can access - hence Americas Army, or Enemy Territory - both of which are freely available on Linux and Windows.

Installation for both is simple - download the file, and then run it as root (./<filename> in the relevant directory)

Generally, in a gaming sense, clans are groups of gamers who play together - they usually practise against each other, but play together against other clans.
