    "Out There" Questions

I, like many here, wonder about the future of the software I use. Not, "will the law decide I can't use it?" or "is the GPL legitimate?" type questions, but more like "is the next version gonna be super 1337?" types of questions. So I give you, here in /dev/random, some questions, not that I'm looking for answers, but because I wonder them.

How's Gecko integration with Konqueror going?

What's the current state of freedesktop.org compliance with either KDE or GNOME? XFce, for that matter?

Wouldn't it be cool if someone did with Qt what XFce does with GTK?

When are KDE / GNOME going to get good, solid support for transparancy in all their apps?

What's the state of DRI drivers, specifically the savage driver (can you guess what card I have?)?

If you can think of any questions you have that are along these lines, please post!

When will Pango's redrawing problems / Qt's flicker problems (both only noticable on lower end video cards, AFAIK) be fixed?

Will we ever get any "instant on" applications, like "My Computer" opens instantly in Windows?

For that matter, will we ever see better load times for apps in general? I hear Qt 4 will address this in a big way.

    Back to computer related issues:

Anyone know Bill Gates's savings account number and his bank routing number?

Will device drivers ever catch up to the latest kernel release?

Will reiserfs and xfs one day be able to coexist on the same partition?

Will ADSL ever get up to 100MB/sec?

When Intel, AMD, IBM, Sony, etc come out with their new chips with the built in copy protection, will P2P, newsgroups, torrents wither away and die? "Something for nothing and money for free""-Dire Straits.

I have a feeling there is a one word answer that is the same for all these questions.

I thought I made a mistake once, but, of course, I was mistaken.

Mozilla.org at least uses other letters besides M.

When will we be able to run:
    ./upgrade_kernel
I think the distros are close with kernel packages all ready to boot.
