    lilo.conf: vga=794, no text displayed

So being the genius that I am, I modifed lilo.conf and set vga=794 instead of vga=ask, and now after I select to boot from the Linux partition, I see no text. Can I override this at lilo somehow? Or do I need to boot from CD, modify lilo.conf, and run /sbin/lilo again? Thanks.

You can modify it from the LILO prompt. Hit 'esc' (I think) and then type the name of the LILO entry you want to boot and then vga=xxx. For example: "Linux vga=788". To make it stick though you will have to edit lilo.conf and re-run it. This will let you see the messages if you're having trouble booting though.

This worked as advertised. Thanks for the tip.
