udev - detecting plugged in usb device.
How can I have something happen when I plug a USB device in? A camera or mp3 player for example. I am using Kernel 2.6 and .

Have you tried a reboot after plugging in the device to see if it has been detected?

take a look in /var/log/dmesg ... you should see some stuff there when you plug in a device (tail -f /var/log/dmesg)
also you need usb compiled in your kernel...

No. The device HAS been detected. I can use it. I am using udev and the hardware works fine. What I am asking for is some sort of notification, "run app when udev rule A is matched", so that my picture browser opens up automatically when I plug my camera in. Is that possible?
