    Yeah, I use big WU's, but then again I have a lot of ram. AFAIK, the big ones will advance your score faster, but they can take a looooong time on an older machine.

    I know that, with the normal options, I can run FAH in the background without really affecting performance. I was specifically asking about the big WUs as my work machine has a P4 proc and 2 GB RAM. So I was thinking of turning on the big WUs and advmethods but it's my work machine as well so it still needs to be functional. I think I will try it out when I get back into the office after the holidays. Thanks for the advice.

    Well after a hiatus I am folding again with some force. A Sempron has replaced a PII and a Barton 3200 was replaced with a AMD64 3000+. Need a new mobo for the ol' barton to get it folding again. Need to get around to giving a PIV a new hdd and reassigning an old PII to get them folding.

    Just an update on our status:

    We are currently ranked 146th out of 42383 teams.
    We have over 3430016 points.
    202 Active CPUs, not bad considering we only have around 40 active members! The sad part of this is we have had 103 people join and only 40 have remained active!
    Currently we have 2 members churning out over 1000 points a day - dkeav and andermic. :O
    We average roughly 229 Points Per Day.

    I don't have a unintinfo.txt file. Any ideas why? Here's some info:

    Code:
    # pwd
    /opt/foldingathome/client1
    localhost client1 # ls
    FAHlog.txt  MyFolding.html  client.cfg  foldingathome  machinedependent.dat
    localhost client1 # cat client.cfg
    [settings]
    username=ions
    team=36480
    asknet=no
    bigpackets=yes
    machineid=1

    [http]
    active=no
    host=localhost
    port=8080
    Looking at the points it would appear I'm still reporting, although there has been a slight drop, and top shows foldingathome is working on something pretty hard.

    Code:
    # ps aux | grep folding
    104      13408 98.4  0.0   1836   616 ?        RNs  Jan24 2227:02 /opt/foldingathome/client1/foldingathome
    Hmmm:

    Code:
     # cat FAHlog.txt

    So I ran the config once again:

    Code:
    # /opt/foldingathome/initfolding

    Note: Please read the license agreement (foldingathome -license). Further
    use of this software requires that you have read and accepted this agreement.

    I don't see a -configonly there.

    You got a t-shirt?

    ions, is there something in the init script that would be adding -configonly?

    If it does I'm not aware of it. My points have dropped. Even though the proc is working on something it's not folding.

    tail -f /opt/foldingathome/client1/FAHlog.txt
    it's folding, but probably as Anonymous for the gentoo team. Gotta fix client.cfg, I think.

    What about just downloading the binary from the official site? Not running Gentoo myself, is there any benefit to using the package from Portage?
