The process did start back up and I'm now at 275000 out of 2500000 steps.

If it doesn't stop and ask me before proceeding to the next one, then I'll try the chmod way.

I'm just wondering what happened to cs.lmu.edu. Is it just a coincidence that it died after 666 WU's? I think there might be a consipracy here...

So, I screwed around and never got to the reformatting and installing slackware, since I looked at the machine and it had resumed working the next day, after rebooting.

Today it BSOD'ed again! It's like sticking your finger in a fire.. you don't do it a second time!

Now where's them slack CD's..... and that burn ointment.

That is what my first thought was, but what if they were chmodded 666. Doesn't that mean they are readable and writable by all? Perhaps that's why they can no longer execute?

I just installed folding on three of my PCs and joined Justlinux team. I will add my gaming pc when it finishes rebuilding its Raid 5 array for the umpteenth time (takes about 19 hours). I have a question, is it possible to "Mount" a terminal in the task bar such that the last line (i.e. folding progress) is visible at all times? I seem to remember doing this (not the folding bit) at Uni but that was about 10 years ago. I guess another way would be to run folding in the background and run tail fahlog.txt in the "taskbar" console. What do you all think? Anyway I hope to get some Units finished soon.

I know the windows version locks the file, I thought the linux version made the file ro when running, guess i'll have to chek my server see if thats the case. Finally got a copy of Mandrake 10.1 Club x86_64 running so we'll have to see if theres any preformance increse.

(won't be doing much folding in windows though, formating a 250gb hard drive and its only at 8%)

That's exactly what I do. I have folding start as a service and then check it out just like you mentioned...

i think that is the 'standard' way of doing it

Two of my boxes are now saying "Finished a frame (31)" instead of a percentage is this normal? If so what would this number normally count up to?
