Talking Want to experience airsnort and Kismet

If you had problems getting airsnort or kismet working go download this live cd. I had no problems using the CD. Worked perfectly.

    This cd is located here

    http://www.remote-exploit.org/index.php/Auditor_mirrors

It has more hacks utils then you could ever dream of and it works. Throw it in your laptop and configure your network settings.

When the auditor live cd is up and you see the gui, go to the "go menu", then "configuration" and finally, "configure wireless interface"

Here are some of the utils on the disk

    1.AIRSNORT
    2.KISMET
    3.SCANNING UTILS
    4.SPOOFING UTILS
    5.BLUETOOTH UTILS
    6.WIRLESS UTILS
    7.BRUTEFORCE UTILS
    8.PASSWORD CRACKER UTILS
    9.DIGITAL FORENSICS
    10.HONEYPOT

    AND MUCH MUCH MORE!

    Have fun auditing !

Let me know if this helped anyone.

Might want to check the hardware compatability list before downloading 550 megs.

It looks pretty comprehensive, and my card (D-Link DWL-G650) is reported to work, so I'll be kicking the tires later tonight...

    No Broadcom

They don't support my built-in Mini-PCI card. It's too bad, I wanted to go do some exploring in my neighborhood to see how many people leave their WAPs unprotected.

Moved to How I Did It! since it's not a question

Looks nice, as soon as I figure out their naming scheme I'll grab one and try it out
looks like they don't have my laptop listed (Dell 600m) or the ipw2100 drivers...I'll have to see what is there once I figure out what to download

It is a DELL Latitude C800 with a Cisco Aironet Card.

Dudes I truly feel like this is the answer

    Give it a try

Oh there is a knock at my door, hope it is not the police. LOL

It's nice and has a very nice list of packages for secuity auditing

I'm a bit bummed that it's not setting up my ipw2100 very well...It loads the modules fine but won't set it up as a network interface.

I'll be messing with this trying to get it to work as it does seem to be a very sweet disk

Or I'll just install the same packages under my Gentoo install on the drive

So, if I wanted a gui for configureing my wireless card what should i use? (I won't d/l the iso since it doesnt list my wireless card even though it does work under linux w/o ndiswrapper). I'm looking for an easier way to change the settings for mine...

    thanks

plainzwalker the only way that I know how to configure the wireless card is via what I posted above. That should be easy enough!

The other way is from the command line which I know that you are not interested in but I will post anyway

    iwconfig eth0 essid "your-ssid"
    iwconfig eth0 key "your-key"
    iwconfig eth0 channel "your-desired-channel"

Subsitute eth0 for whatever you wireless card is.

Icarus you mentioned network interface, did you notice the wireless interface menu as well. That is how I set mine up.

Yup, it wasn't able to configure the card. I did read on he site that he had to do some 'tricks' to get the ipw2100 to work with the scripts but they don't seem to be working for me.

I will be playing with this more, it is a very cool livecd

    # ipw2100 - wireless drivers for Centrino chipsets

I like seeing that in recent change logs

psych-major, hey thanks for the update on the new iso!!

I am downloading it now. I am curious to see how it compares to Auditor.

    No problem!
Let me know how it works. Quite frankly I was floored by how well Auditor performed, especially since my Latitude D800 is a little finicky about live CD's

Incidentally, I found it here and there were several other "security" and "forensic" versions as well...
