    Actually, I have the eclipse's little brother, the gamer's keyboard. It's my second one, actually, as the first one suffered an untimely death when my little brother decided to spill an entire can of coke on it. I really like these keyboards, but I hate saitek itself. Horrible software for these keyboards. I really want the eclipse (the gamer's big brother; he's black, and each key is individually lit), but I don't want to shell out $60 for one.

    I'm safe on the software side because it will be running on pure Linux anyway so it will just come down to whether X supports it or not. Hopefully it will be a Christmas present, even if I have to take my parents to a store and hand them the right one. And I figure I deserve a good keyboard after putting up with this junky Logitech wireless one that feels worse than some $5 keyboards I've used (and it turns out a wireless keyboard is just a waste of batteries for me). That'll teach me to replace my venerable IBM beast.

    I scored a coupon for $400 off one of those Dell 24" LCD's. SO far it's been worth it. The card reader and USB ports all work, and it games pretty well too...

    I am in UK so will have to make my own mind up and not even sure we get "coupon" shiz over here.... But have vague plans that I'll go from my existing two up 19" setup to plant a 24" er in the middle sometime (three up) when I can afford it - will also be great fun getting that configged in Linux (forgot the app that does all the screen placement shiz)... Until I do will soon post up my desktop since it is remarkeable, being built into a fitted cupboard (a b*****d for ventilation!)....

    Until then could you gimme some more feedback on your experience with 24" je_fro? Worth the extra from 21" where I believe I could also run max res? Cost for UK prices from any UK members?

    (Pardon my semi-hijack of thread )

    Talking Cupboard Desktop

    I actually work in a cupboard in my bedroom - and here are the proofs!

    Oh and yeah, before anyone asks it doea get nice and toastie under there with the rigs either side, so I get free footwarming into the bargain! Great for winter - pain in summer (but I'll be moved out by then, probly by January - so thought I would post my cupboard environment before it disappears!

    setting up xorg.conf isnt that hard, if you read it a couple times, adn just play with it. a lot od google helps as well. and a lot of people on this board have posted thiers on thier website.

    as for prices on the Dell 24", just go to thier uk website and look for it.

    or i can just find it ^_^

    I am confused, your second link redirects me to Microsoft's homepage. How can you make a redirect from a JPG link?

    Eeek! Fixed it now, I hope! As to how, well that confuised me too and shows the insidious pervasiveness of M$ online. My error was a simple one:-

    Code:
    URL=http://http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/...
    whens it SHOULD have been:-

    Code:
    URL=http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/...
    So I guess M$ intercepts http:// ? someone else may be better able to explain, but hopefully you all can now see both pictures.

    Thankyou very much for drawing this to my attention Parcival!

    My last dorm setup ever! This semester should be a breeze too because I have no real classes left to take. Anyway, I have all new input peripherals (Saitek Eclipses make me warm and fuzzy inside) and have basically replaced everything except the case in my computer.

    heh. yeah. I eventually got it to work in linux, and I assume that if i find that xorg config, it'll still sorta work. I got all four monitors to run xservers, but i couldn't get them all at the right resolution. ah well. It was fun anyways. back down to two on my 6800.
