Suggestions to new users.

I've noticed a lot of threads here on Justlinux lately being closed by mods because a new member has gone ahead and and posted without first checking to see if there's already a similar thread started. I know that the posting guidelines say this and that, and yeah, people should doing a search first before posting their question.
But consider this.
How about a very obvious section on the homepage guiding new users to the possibility of maybe posting their question in an existing thread?
Sure, you'll say that such a section already exists; "Hot Threads".
It needs to be made a bit more obvious. I'm not saying above the "Latest Threads" section, just linked from an obvious notice near the top of the page. What do you think?

something like a most frequent searches button. ie
nvidia search
twinview search and such?

Yeah, exactly. But really obvious so new members can see it easily. I have to add, Justlinux is my favorite forum by far. Great job!
