Unhappy I Can't Get Anything To Work

Ok, I have had linux (SuSE 9.2) for a mere 10 or so hours.

i have noticed something, i can get anything to install

with any package or lib I DL to install, i get this error:

    checking for xmms...
    no
    checking for gcc...
    no
    checking for cc...
    no
    checking for cc...
    no
    checking for cl...
    no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
    See `config.log' for more details.

where, or what do i need to do?

I believe you have to install the development packages off of the install cds.

What you've got there is a tarball of the source code for the program. You'll need a compiler and any development packages the program requires. Try seeing if they have an RPM file to download. These contain the binary program and don't require you to build them.
