    fsck signal 11

I am trying to install mandrake 2005 (10.2) on a celeron mobile laptop with 40G HD. The install proceeds as normal, but upon rebooting I get:

Modules linked in: ehci-hcd ohci-hcd usbcore ext3 jbd
[bunch of other stuff about stacks and registers]
    Code: Bad EIP value
Warning... fsck.ext3 for device /dev/hda1 exited with signal 11.

If I try to run fsck it fails with the same error.

I duplicated the error on an identical laptop. I have tried all sorts of partitioning. the error is always on hda1.
I have to set up 18 of these laptops! help!

    kind of solution

Ok this is what I did.

I dumped mandrake and installed ubuntu. From a single CD I could go away and do something and come back to a nicely (network-) installed system without having to change discs, and wihtout any problems. I can do this EASILY on 18 laptops.

This was a sad day for me, since I have used mdk exclusively since mdk7.1, 5 years ago.
