A small note. Do NOT buy a 'new' hard drive in a plastic case from a small
computer store..get them NEW, period, from CompUSA or MicroCenter or so.
Start fresh, and connect it lovingly and carefully and
egad
DOn't drop it.

First, start with a great Aluminum case. I like the new Lian Lee with the door. About $140 on eBay.
I just built an Ubuntu box, using said case, an Abit KN8 Ultra, AMD64 X2 4400 Proc, 2GB DDR, 400GB WD SATA, and a NVIDIA 6600LE. The internals at Newegg cost slightly over $1K.

I asked for help in building a configuration.
I posted a similar response, but it's no longer up-- did you delete it?

It is not a question re: configuring/troubleshooting and therefore belongs in /dev/random. Regardless -- the decisions of moderators on this forum are final and we don't want/need to hear the whinig if you don't like it.
