video editing...?
since i was a very good boy this year, Santa brought me the nice digital camera i asked for.
it takes video too (not great quality, but makes it interesting for some home movies...)
the video files are in (Quicktime) .mov format.
ive tried Kino, but get some errors about not reading the file format, which leads me to guess that Kino cant handle .mov.
is this true, or am i just lacking a package or two?
and also, LiVES seems to be down (the webpage anyway), but is it in the repos anywhere?
and ive search and found that Cinelerra is good too, but i get seem to get it either...
are there any good programs other than these three?
maybe something a bit like (*gasp* i hate to say these evil words, please dont shoot me- winblows movie maker...)?
any help would be appreciated

you could maybe
"Use the dvmov2dv program. "dvmov2dv inputfile.mov > outputfile.dv".
and see if you can edit the file then in kino.
I never did this, its just something I came across while doing a quick search a google.
Might be something worth looking into though

you may want to check into dynebolic.org. Its a cd bootble distro and the nwer version have some media editing tools, their site explains what they have, so you may be able to get the packages from them or at least test them out with a dynebolic disc without installing anything. From the software list it show s cinerella as an option.
