N-Gage takes 3 kicks to mount
I've been having problems mounting my Nokia N-Gage lately. I know I have the kernel support and udev rules down, but for some reason I have to run the mount commmand three times to get it done. Maybe not a big deal, but I really hate this kind of seemingly random operation.
Code:
janne@Devastator ~ $ mount /mnt/n-gage/
mount: No medium found
janne@Devastator ~ $ mount /mnt/n-gage/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/ngage,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
janne@Devastator ~ $ mount /mnt/n-gage/
janne@Devastator ~ $
It doesn't matter how long I wait after I plug in the device, I get the same result every time. So what's wrong and how do I fix this?

check dmesg or /ver/log/messages and see what the kernel is doing that's freaking out
-
no wonder it failed horribly on the market

Mostly they just give me a load of dropped packages, but I was however able to pick a couple of lines from there which I suspect might be relevant.
Code:
...
usb 4-2.1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 29
ub(4.29): Stall at GetMaxLUN, using 1 LUN
...
uba: uba1
FAT: bogus number of reserved sectors
VFS: Can't find a valid FAT filesystem on dev uba.
...
Any ideas?

maybe the vfat needs to be formated? it is FAT after all and you have had it for a while and I know you've given it more then mild use
-
is this the memory on the NGAGE itself, or a memory card?
you might need to consider actually re-formatting the card in a Windows machine, or something, and trying again. Just a thought...
