Am I the only guy trying to Sarge an iMac?

Hmmmm. I'm assuming PPC is Power PC. I got sick of this dumb iMac sitting in my room, as I have been using Windows and Linspire/Xandros. Decided to fire it up with Debian Sarge. Used net install on my DSL and installed x-Windows, but the screen went blank. Must have tried to get clever with the choice of driver and got it wrong.. Any hints on this?

    I'm starting from scratch. John

Um... Boot with the expert parameter and don't install anything. Install everything you want later with apt-get. Anyway, you should do this right after finishing the sarge installation (as root):

    apt-get update
    apt-get dist-upgrade

    then:

    apt-get install x-window-system

After that configure x and when it asks you to chose a diver select the Vesa driver. I'm sure this will solve your problems. Also try to get the vertical and horizontal synch ranges your imac's screen uses.

    Cheers and good luck!

when i tried debian ppc, my x server was a blank screen also. i just googled other xorg.conf files and found one that was setup for my imac and it worked fine.
