That's a very common error, at least for me.. I've seen it tons of times. I wouldn't care much about it.

Moved to the Software forum, it's more appropriate to be there.

Thanks Serz! The only thing is that i have been unable to find any reference to the "tons of times" that it has happened. The other problem is that

My machine won't work! i.e., i can't get into my Mandriva GUI.

So, what can i do with this "common error"? Any ideas?

Thanks a lot, and have a great morning!

what he means is that it's a common error to see, but it's not the error that's keeping X from starting...
try to get us some errors to work with by looking for lines containing EE in your Xorg log. THis log is most likely called /var/log/Xorg.0.log
    try this:
    grep EE /var/log/Xorg.log

    and tell us the output...

Thanks a lot guys. And thanks for being so specific (grep EE /var/log/Xorg.log) that even i finally understood what was required.

Finally gave up and reinstalled the whole OS for the third time. This time it worked but have several more partitions on my Hd than the last time. Hopefully one of these will be my Home at least.

    Have a great afternoon!
