    configure*

    i use slackware 10.2 (i'm a beginner, but reading my ___ off)

    when i ls bug-buddy-2.14.0, i get files, dir., etc. - all color coded. normal files are black, dir. are blue, zip files are red)

    but there is a file: -rwxrwxr-x ....configure*
    this one's green.

    what does the green and the "*" designate?

    Yes, they're executables and you can run them by doing ./configure

    I see that you're about to try to compile something. I would suggest you to take a look at this guide.
