Where is the trash can in KDE?

I want to put a link to it on my desktop and I am having a hard time. I look at it's properties and it says it is in /trash. I look at the file system and I don't see it. I am using kubuntu 6.06. thanks.
    My Systems:
    Custom Desktop: Kubuntu 8.04.1 x86 + 2.6.24 kernel
    Thinkpad T61p: Debian SID x64 + 2.6.26 kernel

I believe it's just a kio slave. When you create the link (Right click on kdesktop and go to Create New>Link to Location (URL)) just enter "trash:/" for the location (w/o the quotes, of course).

Thanks ! That worked. But what is a kio slave and why can't I see it from the root file system?

It's not a real directory, per se. I don't have a good explanation about what they are, but I am sure you can find one on the web. Basically, KDE has a series of "places" (several of which are viewable under your "go" menu) that are actually connections to protocols or places; for instance, http, ftp, and so on, all the way to trash, audiocd, and so on.

That's really a poor explanation, but maybe enough to get you started.

Actually, no, it isn't there...at least in current versions of KDE. Now, it resides in ~/.local/share, and contains two directories--files and info.

Try deleting a file, and look in ~/.trash, and you won't find it. You will find it in the files directory mentioned above.

On the filesystem, your trash is kept in: ~/.local/share/Trash/files/

If you want to make a link to your trash on your desktop: Right click on the desktop, Create New, Link to Location (URL)..., URL: trash:/, File name: Trash

    You should be all set
