gaming with linux
I used to play games alot when I used windows. I have been using linux for a while now but I plan on building a gaming computer and don't want to go to windows to do it. I noticed Ubuntu has a gaming edition distro. What makes it so different from the rest in gaming support? What would be the best way or distro to go with for gaming?

From their website, it looks like the gaming edition simply includes cosmetic changes and a whole skew of games, emulators, and other software. I've never used it myself so I don't know if it actually improves the gaming experience. I would imagine though, that you can install any necessary gaming software through regular Ubuntu.
The main issue with gaming in Linux is that most of the popular games were written for windows. So, if you want to play those games in Linux, you'd have to work on configuring an emulator or something like Wine..
There are certain games, however that run natively in Linux. For example, nexuiz or quake 3.
If you want to run windows games, you can
* dual boot
* run an emulator
* run wine
(oh, and maybe you can check out Xen too)

After looking at the Ultimate gaming edition site i noticed i come with emulators. Just to give another distro a try I think I might get it.
