    Will it Work?

    Hi all.
I have got used to using Kubuntu Dapper in the past months and find it to work for everything I need!

Now, I want to put it on my laptop. Its a HP Pavilion zv6130US. When I bought it, breezy was the current release, and I heard it had several problems.

BUT- are those resolved on dapper? I can try gusty, I didn't want to use it because its so new, but I will if need be.

    Thanks

What problems were you having? Maybe have a look on the wiki / forum and see if the problems are mentioned.
If you have to ask why you want to install Linux, then perhaps you shouldn't.

Just boot with the Gutsy live cd, and see what that gets you.

I'd be suprised if it all didn't Just Work

I didn't try it myself, but I heard the max display resolution was 640x480. Thanks I'll give it a go!

Why in haven's name try an older version. Gusty is a fine version of Ubuntu. Go for it.

Personally, I have had fewer problems with gutsy than I had with the two previous versions of Ubuntu. I would go with Gutsy. Also it is a live CO, try it you might like it!!!

Okay, I have kind of a hard decision to make here. I tried my Live CD of dapper, and it worked flawlessly. I mean, everything is perfect. In fact, I'm using it right now. Now, my problem is, should I still wait another 4-6 weeks for my gusty CD? I mean, whats the difference if it all works and I go to adept and upgrade my packages? Thanks for all your help.

To let you all know, dapper works great on this computer. I got tired of waiting for my gusty cd, so I went ahead and put dapper on there. I figure I'll just upgrade. Every single thing on the computer works, amazingly.

    It's "Gutsy" not "Gusty"....there's a reason.

You might want to look here it could provoke further investigation if your still considering Gutsy after the cd arrives.

Hum? Read the info on the links you provided and it surprised me. I've be using Ubuntu 7.10 since just before it's official release ( a week or so) and have not had any problem like the ones described. Don't know what to say. Except that 7.10 is rock solid. Only thing better is Debian. But don't pay any attention to me. I'm a purist at heart.
    Thanks,
