    Scanner recomendations?

Anybody have any recommendations for a USB scanner?

I've been renting time at the local Kinko's to scan some images and then bring them home to work with. Sooner, rather than later the rental cost will exceed what i could pay to buy a scanner.

I've been checking the Sane website and trying to find "current" scanners that are well supported. This is easier said than done.

    Thanks,

My Canon Lide works very well. It's fully supported by Xsane.

I picked up an hp psc 750c at a pawn shop for 10 dollars, and then spent another 10 at walmart to get the usb cable for it. Scans great. Though i haven't sprung for ink, so I haven't tried printing with it yet.

hplip is what I needed to install. I am using gentoo and had the flags X ppds and scanner set for it.

I currently have Epson Perfection 1650 (a few years old), i have always had a good luck with epson printers and scanners.
And a quick google search showed a good support still under linux.

    Thanks all.

This guy's blog gave me hope.

I ordered an Epson Perfection V200 Photo from buy.com for less than $80.00 delivered.

At $24.00 dollars an hour at Kinkos it will pay for itself easily.

The Epson Perfection V200 is what the Kinkos had. 4800x9600 dpi and I was very happy with the scans i made there.

I'll post back with how it goes.

    Later,
