I lost power for two weeks from Gustav, so I can assume he would have about the same issues from Ike. The class was not high enough to cause mass flooding (like Katrina) on my end, but it did knock down many trees, power lines, and all 14 major transmission lines.

I'm moving NW next year - most likely Portland, OR. I don't think I'm going to miss hurricanes at all...

Yes I know this, I was meaning two or three months ago that he got married. Who in there right mind would want to be married to more than one woman at a time any way?

I just came back from Portland from a week trip. Did the general area too - Seattle, Washington State Park, etc. Its a very beautiful area... Here are some shots to tease you with...

I actually enjoy the overcast days here more than the direct sun... Not to mention, Portland really isn't as bad as say Seattle. The position of the town with Mt. Hood and Mt. Saint Helens makes for a mild climate in comparison to the surrounding areas. During my 9 day stay, only 2 days were overcast. Additionally, I'd much rather snow than 100+ degree weather - area seems perfect for me.

Well, he goes/went to, the University of Houston, and Houston was either a mandatory evacuation location or a very strongly recommended evacuate from location... I haven't been on IRC recently, so my money is on he had to bug out, and is somewhere where he doesn't have the time/ability to moderate here for a little while.

We went out for a visit to check out the area at the end of August. We visited the Chinese garden downtown and probably took the same coastal route based on your pictures. I would also agree that the general stereotype is that it's gloomy and rainy there. We were there for an entire week and there was only one day that it was overcast or rained. It is def a beautiful area with the coast being only like an hour away on one side and the mountains an hour away on the other side. (Sorry to continue the thread-jacking.)
