yes, but you technically posted a really late September screenshot, and tried to make us think it was for October.

One thing that I really like about KDE4 is the sticky note widget. I wanted to get something similar for fluxbox, so I eventually rigged up a menu button to open the background image with Gimp, and then I would use gimp to add notes directly to the background image.
Well, It looked kind of ugly, so I rigged up something a little more elaborate:
"scratch fore" opens a plain white jpg with gimp. I type the note, crop it, and save the modified jpg under a different name.
"scratch back" opens the background image ion gimp. I add the modified jpg from the previous step as a layer, save it, hit restart.
It takes a little more time than the KDE4 sticky note, but I make it up in other ways.

The panel at the bottom, I believe is avant window navigator...Nifty, but needs some ironing out from my experiences.
The 'transparent display' in the top right is an aterm w/o decorations (Check out urxvt if you're interested in that, Ive seen quite a few man pages and such formatted in unicode, which aterm doesn't seem to like). The one that displays system information is called conky another nifty app, that I like, but havent had time to completely wrap my mind around its config file.

Nothing like the first few days of screenshot season to get me working on my desktop. Here's a whole new paradigm.
 
Although I didn't like KDE4 (mostly because of changes in Konqueror), it's pretty clear that KDE4 has had a big influemce on my fluxbox desktop. I set up my background to be readily editable, largely inspired by KDE4's sticky notes widget. And now, I have real widgets, thanks to cairo-dock.
The analog clock, cpu meter and weather forecast widgets are cairo-dock. I've got the actual docking station hidden. I know I complained bitterly about the widgeets in KDE4, but in Fluxbox widgets make more sense, since there are no applets. Yeah, I guess I'll go with that story.
The use of notes, banners, and images on a plan black backdrop make sense. The widgets blend in better, and they made the desktop too cluttered for a big image. It's a problem with widgets, it's harder to find a wallpaper that looks good, IMO.
Also, it's going to be easy to remove any items (old expired notes, etc) just by covering it up with with black. It'll blend right in.
