I got tired of KDE4, and I think I'm going back to fluxbox, but as you can see from this shot, the icons and links that I set up for folderview in KDE4 translate quite nicely into Konqueror (or Dolphin) in flux. You ever hear anybody say there are no icons in fluxbox? How wrong is that?

This is from the house all purpose server.
    File Server
Web Cam for the side yard
TV for when working in the garage.
And it's most important function as the Squeeze Center server for the house music set-up.

Nice Wallpaper site BBJ. I'd like to submit InterfaceLIFT.com as a pretty good place to get wallpaper.

I've been looking for some new wall papers...great site, thanks for the link!
If you have to ask why you want to install Linux, then perhaps you shouldn't.

Tried out the new Debian "Lenny" RC1 install. The default is Gnome. XFCE was my choice.

Recently, Vladstudios has actually contributed some wallpapers directly to KDE by winning some contests. That's more or less how I happened to stumble on the site.

    nolimit974,
Is that Torsmo in the upper right corner? I used to use it a while ago, but it didn't look like that. May have to check into it again.

    Kickbox2

Sometimes people ask me-- probably to mock me, but maybe not-- whatever happened to my plan to release my own homemade live cd distro, which I was calling "Kickbox". The idea was to demonstrate Konqueror's ability to bring graphical desktop capabilites into a window manager like fluxbox, and fluxbox's capability in turn to customize and power-manage these capabilities.

Well, what happened was KDE4. I realized that I was working with technology that may be on the way out. I needed to make friends with the new order, after singlehandedly attempting to overthrow it didn't work. I'm now constructing a new version of Kickbox, and it's based on Dolphin instead of Konqueror. Yeah, I like Dolphin now. I'm one hard headed money-farmer, and if I could have come up with one rational reason to continue to hate Dolphin, I would be hating Dolphin still, but none of my reasons stood up. If they had called the Web Browser Dolphin and the File Manager Konqueror I would have loved it. That's how loyal I was to the Konqueror brand name. I would have bought Konqueror Toothpase, Konqueror Breakfast Cereal, Konqueror Laundry Detergent. Yes, I really can be that dumb-- but, to my credit, I always recover... at least as far as I can tell.

The pager in the lower left hand corner is actually a KDE4 plasmoid supported by an application called plasmoidviewer. The command is:

    plasmoidviewer pager

So I can run the KDE4 widgets in fluxbox, without running plasma... sweet! Sometimes I take it for granted that because I like to use KDE in a nontraditional way, my needs will not be provided for, but these KDE guys really do seem to think of EVERYTHING!

It's not really that hard to figure out, is it?

Thought I'd play around with Linux Mint 5 Fluxbox edition. First time I've seen a distro with a Fluxbox desktop as the default. It is heavily dependent on Ubuntu.
