Samba roaming profile user login after offsite cached login

If a user with a client that uses a domain login with a roaming profile when on-site takes their laptop off-site and logs in and modifies files in the cached local copy, what happens regarding those modified files when they return to the domain LAN and log back in.

(Not exactly a *Linux* networking question, per se, but I am using Samba on Debian as my PDC.)

I've seen a similar situation with a Windows machine which could authenticate with my Samba server but couldn't load or save profiles because of a bug I later fixed, so it's comparable to being off the network.

What I saw was because the files on the client were newer than those on the server they were preserved on login and saved back on logout.
