    RHEL 6 on vmware workstation

    Hi All

I have installed a RHEL6 basic server on vmware workstation.
I have registered with RH for a 30 day trial.

The server is installed and running but I cant seem to get it to connect to the net so I can register and start loading packages and playing around with it.

I had the network card in vmware set to NAT (use to share the host IP address) and now to Bridged (replicate physical network state) but neither works.

I checked the config file in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and only thing I changed in there was to say yes to ONBOOT.

I run rhn_register and keep getting the unable to contact rh server message.

Anyone know of a way past this or how to get it registered?

If you open a terminal and type ifconfig, what are you getting for an IP address?
I equivocate, therefore I might be.

    Resolved.

Klackenfus - for ifconfig I was seeing transmit and receive packets so knew the card was working ok.

Switched the removeable device setting in vmware back to NAT and it suddenly started working. Registered with rhn and all working ok. Thank you for responding.
