I have a Sylvania mini tablet. One hundred dollars at Big Lots. No 4G, which means it needs a wi-fi hotspot, but it also means I don't need a plan. I'll be great if I can install a real text editor and copy text in and out of my email.

There should be an android market program on the device. Have a look there for a text editor. You can also visit play.google.com to have a look-see at what they have a little easier than on a tablet. There seems to be a lot of choices for free text editors.

Slowly, I'm finding my way. The market app on my tablet doesn't seem to have a search function, but that can't be right, can it?

Anyone have the new Transformer from ASUS?
That might be my next big purchase.

It's only
possible to access the Google Play website if
your account has been migrated to the new
Google Apps infrastructure.
If your account has not yet been migrated, we

Okay, I'm beginning to see how I was about to get this tablet at Big Lots.
Google has rendered my tablet obsolete by integrating the android apps into Google Play, part of their big networked Final Solution. It's now impossible for me to install Google apps, but don't worry, Google has an app for that!
I can install apps from something called Slide Me, the native market app, which apparently is the worst thing ever. No search function? How can there possibly be no search function? Well, I can't find it, so there might as well not be one. In order to install a free crippleware text editor, I had to browse through several hundred apps, many of them ridiculous.
Okay, it's pretty frustrating, but on the other hand... Hello? 100 dollar tablet! I can browse with Opera mini, watch you tube videos, and check my email from any hot spot. I can read saved pages. I can view PDFs, though the font is way too small for book reading. I just got a 16 GB micro SD card, and I'm hoping that it'll let me play mp3s.
I just found out about these micro cards. Unbelievable! 16 GB, and it's smaller than a thumbnail.
It was affordable, and it's good enough for me to use. But how are you coming on that Ubuntu tablet, Mr. Shuttleworth?

Okay, the moral of the story is to make sure your android device is on the list of Google supported devices.

It's kinda hard for me to work on the tiny little touch keyboard, but it is useable.
Couldn't really use it much out on the island, but today I just turned it on, connected it to my AT&T U-Verse internet wireless connection, and it is playing a Blues radio station at the moment.

I thought I made a mistake once, but, of course, I was mistaken.
