unable to download Java in CentOS <URGENT HELP PLEASE>

Hi - I have recently installed Linux OS (CentOS). and trying to download Java.

I don't have wget in the machine, when I tried to 'yum install wget' getting error message "cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base/7/x86_64.


request for help please.

Do you have a valid internet connection?
look in the /etc/yum.repo directory and look at some of the *.repo files in there.
do a dig, or ping on some of the urls, see what you get.
