Why should you have good back-ups of your computer data..

    Slipping into QuickSand..

An acquaintance told 'he just lost a lifetime of 8-terabytes of data' when a best hard drive failed.. Now he needs to back track into his 30 hard drives to retrieve all his collective historic data, or succeed at using a data recovery program, or try to install the hard drive platter into another hard drive, like he's 'sunk in quicksand'... Imagine losing all your computer data.. Now what..?

Don't lose your backup to a hack, or virus, or faulty hardware.. Make at least three working backups on external hard drives before the doodoo hits your fan.. Computer hard drives do so wear-out and can suddenly die...

When I first heard of 'ransomware', immediately I made several backups of my data...

I have 2-terabytes of data saved since widows-98.. I do Not want to lose any of my precious data, so with 50 refreshed backups I can't lose my data... Some of the 50 hard drives are hidden so well even your gods couldn't find them..

Don't trust flash drives nor CD's as permanent back-ups.. They wear-out and die, then everything is lost, when all you got left of life is sewer-slide, like 'a toilet being flushed'...

Save yourself the grief of 'Slipping into cyber quicksand'.. Buy a couple external hard drives tomorrow, then back-up everything..
I don't know who is the best manufacturer for hard drives, but I do know the older Toshiba's were built like 'tanks'.. I can't wear one out, nor damage an old Toshiba external hard drive, even if they take many drops.. They take a beating and keep on working... I don't know what Toshiba is doing these days.. Are they putting out quality, or crap..? Just wondering.. Just asking...

Everyone who is running widows computers should acquire an old computer, install a Linux OS, and copy everything to it, just in case...

Especially all forums should have several back-ups.. Every forum running on widows should have a Linux back-up... There's a nasty computer killer multi-virus out there that hasn't hit the public yet.. When it does it will probably kill every widows operating system connected to the internet that hour.. It will totally crash the global economy and the internet, and will damage millions of lives.. It's called 'Storm'.. It's kookoo barbaric cocaino-damaged libido-twisted creator destroyed three of my computers with it back in widows-98 days.. There is no recovery from a 'Storm hit', it's the infamous 'blue screen dead computer', plus the hard drive has been destroyed... Be prepared for 'Storm'.. Don't be sorry, make at least three up to date Linux back-ups ASAP.. Make this week 'back-up my treasures week'..

Yeah, I agree! That's why I always secure my backup files for all of my data files.

How do you know you aren't adding malware to your backups when you're uploading the data from the day's work and play on the Web..?

Using Clam scan is a pain.. Clam seriously mungs-up and slows down the Linux OS..
I gave all the windows junk to the precious metals recycler and to the incinerator, so I can't run defender... Seems we need a special systems utility notebook exclusive for malware scanning dvd's, external hard drives, and flash drives... Any ideas what would be the best Linux OS for that..?

What would be a good theme and policy to know that you are never adding malware to the backups..?
A few months ago I loaded a downloaded pix to two of my 50 backups, which destroyed the backups.. I suspect the corrupt pix was an overly self-righteous grannie-class microhell's goofle exec's nasty game to bait and bully people to appease his sicko religious dark place jollies.. His website was labelled 'neural' something.. Probably an aging ceo desperate to cause havoc and discord to keep in practice controlling and hurting people as he fades into the dark lost oblivion of obsolescence...

How do you do your backups safely..?

Yesterday I went through seven hard drive backups that need a new OS installed.. One hd had 20-gigs of data in a locked file that wouldn't format clean, so I formatted the hd to ntfs, then formatted it back to fat.. The hidden locked file vanished..
