LAN or WLAN - how to proceed it the signal strength is just too weak!?

LAN or WLAN : thats the question...
If it's not enough to reach your devices - then you can switch to WLAN or, if necessary, to LAN again
sometimes - you can't even do anything with a repeater.
How do you do that?!
Are you using LAN again - i.e. Ethernet cable!?
