Wine & Retail CS
I thought it was supposed to be easy. *sigh* I have tried several versions of Wine, including Codeweaver's Preview 6. The same problem comes up with all of them; I get into the game after installing and try to start a game and the "Loading" screen comes up and that's it. It doesn't do anything else. Software mode, OpenGL, doesn't matter it won't work. Help?

odd...have you tried www.transgaming.com WineX? I've been using that for almost a year with very little problems. You can get it from their CVS and compile it...or pay $5/month and be able to get the binaries.
Is the console spitting out any errors?

Well I can't get the console to work. If I type
wine c:/Sierra/Counter-Strike/cstrike.exe -console
or
wine c:/Sierra/Counter-Strike/cstrike.exe --console
It tells me the command is unrecognized. Hints?
Isn't the Codeweavers Preview 6 WineX? If not, how does that CVS thing work? What does CVS stand for, anyway? Hehehe.

Try browsing here:
http://www.transgaming.com/postlist.php?forum=3
This if for WineX, but it should detail the options you need to start cstrike.exe with.

First. Did you do a complete install? "wine setup.exe" ?
Second. You need to download and install the CVS program:
http://www.cvshome.org/
Then issue the commands as stated before.
