    Sound Card probs...

Okay, I am running RH 7.0 and I can't get my sound card to work. Maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong? Here goes...

I bring up a terminal as root and run sndconfig. It gives the message:WARNING: DISPLAY is set. It is recommended that sndconfig *not* be run from X Windows. Continue anyways? I click YES.

On the PNP Probe Results: A PnP sound card was found in your system. The details are: Model: ESS ES1868 Plug and Play Audio Drive. I click Ok.

Next I get a File Exists message: There is a file called /etc/isapnp.conf. The existing file will be renamed /etc/isapnp.conf.bak and a new file will be written. I click Ok.

I get another File Exists message: There is already a file called /etc/modules.conf. The existing file will be renamed /etc/modules.conf.bak. and a new file will be written. I click Ok.

On the Sound Card Test screen: A sound sample will now be played to determine if your sound card is correctly configured. I click Ok.

    I hear nothing...

And the isapnp error screen: The following error occured while running the isapnp program: Don't know what to do with INT 0 (IRQ 5 (MODE +E))) on or around line 60 /etc/isapnp.conf:60 -- Fatal - Error occured parsing config file --- no action taken. I click Ok and it brings up the manual configuration which also doesn't work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...even if its "Buy a new card dumbass." Thanks...

    Maybe this will help.

Otherwise, I'd buy a newer card (preferably PCI).

Thanks much, I didn't try searching for anything because I didn't think that there would be anything there considering the card..
