    Default Password for RH 6.2?

My husband installed RH 6.2 on a spare system we have, but we haven't used it in over a year. During this time the password was forgotten. Can someone please supply me w/ the default User name and Password for RH 6.2 ?

    Thank you,
    Cathy Barker

    There is no such thing.

Boot with the Red Hat CD. Skip through the first few stages of the installer, until it asks you where the files are. By this time you should find a shell on virtual console 2 (or 4, a different one anyway).

In the shell, do "mount /dev/hda1 /mnt" (assuming your root partition is /dev/hda1) and edit /mnt/etc/passwd. Replace "root:x:BLAH BLAH BLAH" with "root::BLAH BLAH BLAH"

Now reboot and login as root. No password ma'am.

Did you change the password? If so, and you can't remember what it was changed to, reset the router to factory defaults by pressing and holding the reset button on the back of the powered up unit for > 5 seconds.

Is this the only router you have on your network? Bad things happen when you have multiple routers with the same IP address range.
