    mandrake 9 and ppp problems

    In mandrake, it appears that it cannot hold my internet connection. it sometimes manages fine, others it disconnects for no apparant reason at any time.

    once it has disconnected, the command pppd call adsl attemps to connect, but ifconfig ppp0 does not give an ip address and a few seconds later claims the device cannot be found. i have to reboot before i can reconnect.

    does anybody know what could be wrong here?

    I have never been able to reconnect my adsl connection without doing a full reboot either.
    Does anyone know some commands to reconnect using pppd once the line has dropped out?
