    Question Curious about Knoppix

    Hi all,
As the subject states,I am very curious about Knoppix..I am downloading version 3.1 as I type, and wondered if anyone has tried the cdrom OS?
If anyone has played with this can you tell me how it compares with a
"normal" distro..I would guess it's limited and slow but beyond that
    how usefull is it?...
    Also appreciate any tips learned...
    Thanks all in advance,
    JP

I burned a copy for a friend, and tried it out briefly... Pretty cool, although since it is Linux, this query belongs in a Linux-related forum and not the Other Unix-Based forum.

    It is pretty cool.

I have a Euro copy and had to change a few things, but otherwise, a great way to introduce your friends to Linux.

It's pretty cool. I ran it on a PC that didn't even have a hard drive once. It just loads into RAM. Another cool thing is you can pop it in somebody's Windows 2K or XP computer where they have folders you normally couldn't get into and you can see everything. Read-only on NTFS unless you change it yourself, but it's not advised.

Yes it is very cool..I tried it on three computers all very different and it went on perfectly each time..In fact it was brainless..Not even a choice to make during the whole install..WoW! Found my scsi devices,My ISA sound card,Mycable modem/NIC card, and myTNT2 card perfectly on one old system..The newer AbitKR7A board with the XP1500/VIA chipset, same thing..Found and installed it all ..What can i say..hehe
