    Xfree86 Config

    Hi,

I just installed mandrake linux 9.0 and it did not have an option to select the GeForce 4 MX that i have. So i just selected GF2 and then later from the shell promp installed the nvidia drivers for the kernel and GLX.
It required me to edit my XFree86 config file, but when i looked into my etc/X11 directory I couldnt find it. So i created a new one using Xconfig .
I made the changes as required by the NVidia driver but whenever i try to log on I get

execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 2)
    giving up
xinit:No such file or directory,: unable to connect to X server
    xinit: No such process error

Can someone help me out please?

    Thanks

thats a double post. please read the forum rules. double post = bad. it annoys people. because we always wonder on to the ame post twice, and often see posts by different people asking the same things. its bad. don't do it. people like me will yell at you.

me thinks (like i thought in the other thread) that you screwed up somewhere and didn't install X... but me doesn't know for sure. johnt might know more.

Did you explicitly install a Window Manager during install, such as KDE or Gnome?
